The Thanksgiving I Missed
Since I began this random blog during high school, I have made it a habit of listing the top ten things I was thankful during Thanksgiving. I missed it this year. I didn't even realize I missed it until I updated my Facebook page and realized I hadn't blogged at all about my final semester. Let's just say it was the roughest semester of my college career.
I completed my senior project on top of two other major projects. Looking back on the semester I feel incredibly good about what I accomplished. But if you spoke with me at all during the last few months you know I was cranky, stressed, and lacking sleep.
On the day of my final presentation...the one standing between me and one of my two degrees, my grandfather suffered a major heart attack, which prevent oxygen from reaching his brain. He never woke up. So on the weekend I graduated from college...something he told me he always wanted to see, we planned his funeral. One of my great friends said something that truely touched my heart. She said "I know you had trouble getting enough tickets for all your family, this is just your Granddad's way of getting a front row seat!"
That was such a comforting thought. I know that Granddad is hanging out in heaven. While I have no idea what heaven is like, I think if we have hobbies in heaven Granddad is working in the woodshop with Jesus!
So this holiday season, I am really only thankful for one major thing...the saving grace of my savior Jesus Christ. Because of that I know that one day I will see my Granddad again, but more importantly I will see and kiss and sing for and bow before my savior! And He will love me and cherish me.
Verse of the night: Proverbs 3:21-24
"My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sigh; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble; when you lie down, you will not be afraid, when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet."
