The Body
So the title could lead to so many things. But have you ever realized how wonderfully beautiful our bodies are? "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them."-Genesis 1:27. We are made like God. How cool is that?!!! Then think about how intricate our bodies are. We have 206 bones! Psalm 139:13 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." He put those 206 bones together plus all of our muscles and arteries and blood and marrow. We are so complicated. Our bodies are living and walking proof that God exists. Then I think of the song by Audio Adrenaline "Hands and Feet" "I want to be your hands, I want to be your feet, I'll go where you send me...." What does it mean to be a hand or a foot? A hand has 27 bones in it! That is more than one tenth of all the bones in the entire body. All contained in one, in my case, small hand! I think as humans we can not describe our selves as a hand, I think we have to be the bones and the muscles that make up the hand. Christians have to work together to create movement and action. A single bone can't do it alone, but with out that bone it can't be done. I think it is the same with Christianity. We can not live alone. We were made as social creatures. "But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep and while he was sleeping he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with flesh. THen the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man and he brought her to the man...For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh." Genesis 2:20-24 We can't be alone, but we also have to be a support for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Hebrews 10:24 "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." We must work together like the bones in our hands to create a new movement and uprising in this crazy world! I want to be the bones! Strong and steadfast! What a neat thing that we can pray for!
Verse of the night: (and God this is my prayer) Isaiah 35:3-4 "Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts "Be stong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you."
