The Spotlight

I love the theatre. There is no comparable feeling as to when there is a sudden hush in the audience as the curtain is pulled and the lights brought up. People say that theatre is just a way for humans to hide from the reality of their lives, but I disagree. Live theatre is one of the most "real" things that could be done. It is the job of the actors and actresses to make the audience believe that they are in another world. If they fail, hundreds of people are there to mock and torment. Also live theatre, no matter how well rehearsed, is completely unpredictable. Doors slam causing set pieces to fall, but it just adds to the reality that is portrayed by the characters.

As an actress I find it so rewarding to be on stage and know that for maybe and hour and a half I am able to take someone's mind off of the worries they face at home. When a patron comes to the theatre they can fly to far off places, feel love that's never found them, laugh at familiar situations, and feel for just a moment that they have no problems of their own. Its like creating a mini vacation. There is so much stress in this world and so much pressure that when I am on stage my main goal is to create a place where there is no stress.

I believe that God blesses everyone with talents and passion, that He expects us to use to further His kingdom. I pray every day that the passion I have for theatre, and hopefully, talent, transmits my love for Him. I never could have made it this far without my God and I know that he has blessed me because of my faith. I just pray that my faith continues this way as I start a new Act in the production of 'Life.'

Verse of the Day: Ecclesiastes 1:11 "There is no remembrance of men of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow."

My prayer: God let my intentions be purely directed towards pleasing you and not making myself famous, because in the end only you will be remembered.
